Synopsis:

This is a book on strategy. It presents an original method—the Pragmatical Analysis—to tackle human actions from the point of view of their strategic or purposeful aspects. So, it uses a new approach to a multi-millenary subject.

The Pragmatical Analysis is based on the following working hypotheses: (1) actors—the source of actions—are defined by the relationships they entertain; (2) both the actors and their mutual relationships must define themselves from the actions they practice, and the results of these actions: (3) what is an actors as traditionally or conventionally identified are pragmatically different in different contexts, and this is strategically relevant. Then, instead of looking at the actor’s conventional identity, we must turn to their pragmatic identities and assess their power pragmatically. That’s the core of the Pragmatical Analysis.

Over the years, what began as a method of strategic analysis was enriched with justifications and rationales to become a full-fledged theory, presented in this book, along with some hints for its practical application.

We don’t aim to restrict the theory’s application to a specific field. We aim to understand strategy as a phenomenon that may appear in different fields of activities. Our point is that any particular case of strategy application can benefit from this book´s approach only by identifying the concepts we present with their field specificities, which generate particular consequences.
