So many people are put into leadership roles without guidance, which leads them to follow someone else’s style, even if they don’t like it. They don’t know what to do, so they just follow by example.

This inspirational fable describes an approach that allows you to become a confident leader by revealing your own personalized leadership style that is authentic to you.

Imagine how constructive it would be to hear conversations that developing leaders have had with their trusted mentor. In this leadership fable, the one-on-one coaching that leaders receive from a seasoned leader guides them through a leadership development process to help them embrace the core values that drive their behavior.

I believe each person has been shaping their own leadership values and style throughout their life. They just don’t realize it. Interactions or observations with a teacher, parent, coach, or supervisor can leave lasting impressions on a person. I encourage people to tap into these positive and negative memories to help define what leadership means to them versus just reading what other people say. Relating leadership to your personal experiences is far more impactful than just reading about other’s experiences. ~The Power of an Authentic Leader
