"The Position of Possessive and Demonstrative Adjectives in the Noctes Atticae of Aulus Gellius" is a meticulous scholarly examination of Latin syntax and linguistic style as evidenced in the second century AD. In this detailed study, Edward Yoder explores the specific placement of adjectives within the prose of Aulus Gellius, an author whose primary work, "Noctes Atticae", serves as a vital repository of classical lore, grammar, and literary criticism.

By analyzing the word order used by Gellius, Yoder provides significant insight into the evolution of the Latin language and the stylistic nuances of the period. This work is an essential resource for students of classical philology and linguistics, offering a rigorous look at the structural choices that define the literary texture of late classical Latin. Through careful analysis and textual comparison, the book clarifies the conventions governing possessive and demonstrative adjectives, contributing to a broader understanding of Roman rhetorical and grammatical practices. This academic study remains a valuable tool for those researching the historical development of Latin prose and the linguistic habits of its most notable practitioners.
