Paperback. Following her successful first novel "White Lace, Black Ice", Fielding's writing debut of her rhythmic, mob-escaping, romantic adventure, "The Portrait", her second novel, unfolds as a pulsing coming-of-age romance filled with heartfelt moments and young love set against the backdrop of a bustling, vibrant Coney Island. The story, a delicate dance between innocence and experience, follows Cali, a girl haunted by a mysterious past, and CJ, a charming artist with secrets of his own, as they navigate the exhilarating, and often treacherous, currents of first love amidst the flashing lights and echoing laughter of Coney Island. As the salty air whipped around them, carrying the scent of fried dough and something indefinably wild, Cali found herself drawn to CJ's quiet intensity. His eyes, the color of a stormy sea, held glimpses of a depth that both frightened and fascinated her.His touch, light as a feather, traced the edges of her anxieties. He'd paint the shadows that clung to her, the memories she couldn't outrun, capturing them on canvas, transforming fear into art. He'd coax the whispers from her soul, the unspoken dread that echoed in the quietest hours. Colors bloomed under his brush, vibrant and defiant. With each brushstroke, a battle was won, a fragment of her spirit reclaimed. The Portrait is an intense love story that will stay with you long after the last page is read.
