About the Author: Nigel Williams, author of The Breaking and Remaking of the Portland Vase, was Head of the Ceramics and Glass Section in the Department of Conservation, British Museum, until his death in 1992. He was widely known as a teacher of ceramic conservation and wrote the first edition of this book to satisfy the needs of his numerous students in further education classes. This second edition has been extensively revised and updated by Loretta Hogan, Supervisor of the Ceramics and Glass Workshop in the Department of Conservation, with the help of Myrtle Bruce-Mitford.
