"We′ve never had a president named Bob. And I think it′s time."––Bob Dole in April 1995, announcing his presidential candidacy
"I understand my critics are fixated and pathologically disoriented, but they are my opponents. Why would I try to correct them?"––Newt Gingrich
"It′s tiring and very stressful. It′s not just the hours. It′s having to think while you′re there."––Rep. Henry Hyde, on the exhausting work required to pass elements of the GOP′s "Contract with America"
"I′ve got a lot to learn about Washington. Why, yesterday I accidentally spent some of my own money."––Senator Fred Thompson
Politicians are known for talking a lot without having a lot to say, and often–times what they do say sounds downright ridiculous. David Olive, compiler of the best–selling Political Babble (Wiley), has collected an altogether new book of political doublespeak and ludicrous statements. More Political Babble offers verbal missteps from both political incumbents and Washington wannabe′s. And the fun doesn′t stop at the border, nor is it unique to todays current crop of politicians. More Political Babble also has its share of miscues from all over the world, including current and classic quotes. Get a much needed election year laugh from these political wafflings, babblings, and foot–in–mouth statements.
