Crowder first published this work in 1774; the second edition appeared in 1779, the third in 1783, a fourth edition in 1788, and a fifth edition in 1795 . This edition thus appears between the first and second edition, but without an edition statement. Most of the extracts are from the standard periodical literature of the period.
