The Poetry of Adelaide A. Proctor, Ticknor & Fields, 1866, Boston, 416 pp, blue cloth, 6 x 3.75 , 18mo. In fair condition. Light wear to extremities with minor scuffing to corners and surface. End bands and spine are moderately scuffed with rubbing and slight crushing. Gilt finishing bright. Bookplate of Allen J. Smith on pastedown. Inner hinge quite tender with binding mesh exposed. Old hand ownership on fly leaf, fly leaf chipped, nearly torn away. Second fly leaf has old hand ownership in ink. Interior lightly toned with scattered foxing. A few instances of markings. Binding intact. Rear fly leaf folded improperly, nearly torn. Please see photos. Adelaide Anne Proctor was a tireless philanthropist and poet in England in the Victorian era. Despite her short life, many of her poems began to be published in Dickens periodicals Household Words and All the Year Round beginning when she was a teenager.
