Elaborate embossed gilt floral design on black morocco with what appears to be ivory inset, which has gilt titles and lovely floral design, initials HRR, also gilt initials for words Poetical Works on leather square on ivory inset, some of the lettering faded or missing, rubbing to extremities, light wear o/w, gilt titles and floral motif on spine with five raised bands has 1cm closed tear, gilt borders on marbled pastedown, rear cover has embossed design, some scuffing, gilt edges, frontis engraving of Longfellow owner?s name & date 1870, small pencil mark, on pre-title page ? there are in fact two title pages, one depicting naked men and women seemingly rising to heaven as Jesus hangs on the cross, several other engravings by various artists, pages are toned, binding is tight, 16-page Nimmo catalogue at rear, book measures 6.5x4.5?/17x11cm.
