Green publisher's cloth over beveled boards. Black and gilt titles and decorations on cover and spine, and decorations blind-stamped on back. Spine darkened, 3 yellow smudges on cover, 6-inch tear along front edge of spine. All edges gilt. Deep brown endpapers. No publication date, but preface dated 1869 and ffep signed: ?Susie F. Vidal/ from Papa/ Jan. 1872.? Black and white frontispiece of Eliza Cook engraved by F. Holl, with tissue guard. Eight more b/w illustrations, all in very good shape. Very light foxing on dedication page and back three pages (only 1 page of text), otherwise interior clean. Cover somewhat loose, but else binding sound. A beautiful old book.
