Mauchline binding with pattern of ferns and leaves stencilled on shellaced wood boards, red morocco leather spine with raised bands, gilt designs within panels. Gilt dentelles, pale yellow endpapers with blue cloth hinges, AEG. Light wear at head and heel of spine, and some flaking of shellac along upper edge of wood grain on front board. Overall a very handsome example of 'Fern Ware', the book as High Victorian bric-a-brac, 'tho this decoration was more commonly found on memento boxes and tea services of the period. Scans available on request.
