Handsome, antique copy of the "Poems of SIR WALTER SCOTT." Circa 1860's (there is no date of publication stated); William P. Nimmo; Edingburgh, U.K. This edition is beautifully bound in full decorative leather with five raised bands on the spine, marbled end papers, gilt page edges on all sides of the text block, and gilt accents along the inside covers. With an engraved frontispiece portrait of Scott, an illustrated title page, and numerous full-page engraved plates by Keeley Halswelle. There is a "Notes" section and a 16-page publisher's catalog at the back. A wonderful copy. Condition: The green leather has faded a bit at the top-third of the front cover and on the spine. There is some rubbing of the leather at the top-right corner of the front cover. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. The pages are age-toned, though not brittle, and clean with only foxing on the frontispiece and illustrated title page. Bright gilt page edges on all sides of the text block. The front pastedown has a previous owner's bookplate affixed, and a bit of the top paper layer has peeled at the top-left corner. Overall the book is in Very Good condition.
