The complete poetry of Eugene Field (1850-1895). Mr. Field was a newspaper man and author of notable children's poems, earning him the nickname "The Poet of Childhood." Includes a tissue-guarded frontis photographic portrait of the author. --- In ribbed green cloth-covered boards with author name and circular framed device to cover, both gilt. Gilt-stamped spine titling, TEG (top edge gilt). Volume lacks a dust jacket. --- A loosened front cover has been carefully repaired prior to this listing, and with spots of discoloration to covers & a dampstain to back cover, otherwise a sound copy with unmarked interior.; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; xi, 553 pages. This book has rubbing and surface scratching to both covers, shelfwear to the edges and corners of the covers including light fraying of the cover fabric, a shifted spine, a light pen inscription on the front end page, loose hinges, a tear approx 3/4 inch long at the interior of the front hinge where the webbing of the binding is exposed, minor smudging to the edges of the textblock, an overall gentle aging to the pages, and a mild musty odor likely from age and improper storage, otherwise this book is in good condition with unmarked pages, a tight binding, and a strong, clean cover.
