Print on Demand. This poignant collection of poetry from the turn of the 20th Century captures the human condition during a time of great strife and uncertainty. The author, a man with a deep personal investment in the subject matter, delves into themes of war and peace, love and loss, and the indomitable spirit of those who persevere in the face of adversity. Through vivid imagery and a command of the form, these poems explore the complex tapestry of emotions and experiences that have been―and continue to be―universal for generations. Whether reflecting on historic battles or intimate personal moments, the author illuminates the depths of the human spirit under duress as well as its capacity for resilience and renewal. This book serves as both a timeless record of a bygone era, and a reminder of the fundamental truths that connect us all. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

The verses contained in this volume were not written with a view to publication in the form of a book, but having submitted them to a friend, - whose literary attainments are of the highest order, and whose taste and judgment no one could afford to ignore, - I have been led by his encouragement to have them published in this form. Apologizing for their imperfections, I trust that they contain no sentiments that will fail to entertain and to help those who may do me the honor to read them.

About the Author
Like many of his contemporaries, including Christopher Marlowe, Shakespeare began his career on the stage, eventually rising to become part-owner of Lord Chamberlain s Men, a popular dramatic company of his day, and of the storied Globe Theatre in London.
Extremely popular in his lifetime, Shakespeare s works continue to resonate more than three hundred years after his death. His plays are performed more often than any other playwright s, have been translated into every major language in the world, and are studied widely by scholars and students.
