Red fine-grain cloth over bevel-edge boards; black and gilt stamped with floral and tendril vignettes incorporating titles; all edges gilt; tissue-guarded frontispiece; prelims and all text pages in red-ruled frames; decorative tailpieces. Bright, clean front cover; spine is clean, faded unevenly - titles clear; rear cover is scuffed/lightly soiled, faded at lower inside corner; rear cover fading and portion of lower spine due to damp exposure; slight fading on front cover at lower inside corner; tightly bound; very slight staining at end paper lower inside corners from damp; owner bookplate on front fly leaf 'Ellen Mudge Butler'; bright, clean interior. Not dated but cover design incorporates publisher name and copyright '1884'. From the collection of Ellsworth Bunker (U.S. Ambassador to Argentina, Italy, India, Nepal, South Vietnam, Organization of American States, and twice recipient of U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom).
