LEGEND OF THE GOLDEN ITALIAN KNIGHT
A child marked for death. A destiny marked by Heaven. A legend ready to rise.
When tragedy steals the life of his beloved wife, Donatello De Serio—Podestà of the city of Speranza—succumbs to madness and condemns his newborn son to die. But two courageous midwives defy his order, fleeing with the infant Dominicus. They bring him to a secluded Carmelite convent along the Serio River, the child is raised in secret, shaped by faith, wisdom, and the quiet strength of those who protected him.
More than twenty years later, a letter arrives bearing devastating news: Speranza has fallen to mercenaries led by Draco, the ruthless half‑brother Dominicus never knew.
The Mother Superior recognizes the moment foretold in her sacred dream—the moment the young man must embrace the destiny heaven whispered to her when he was only three-years-old.
In the spring of 1485, entwined with the colorful history, political turmoil, and breathtaking landscape of Northern Italy, Dominicus De Serio steps forward as il Cavalier d'Oro—the Golden Knight. With loyal companions at his side and faith burning in his heart, he embarks on a miraculous quest to reclaim his homeland, confront the darkness of his bloodline, and ignite a legend forged in courage, hope, and love.
The adventure begins. The Golden Knight rises.
A Story filled with vengeance, cruelty, bloodshed, and forbidden love.

A World That Feels Lived‑In
LePre’s greatest strength is atmosphere. The City of Sparenza is not merely a setting—it breathes. The cobbled streets, the murmuring piazzas, the candlelit chambers of governance, and the rural outskirts all feel meticulously researched yet effortlessly alive. The novel’s historical grounding never weighs down the narrative; instead, it enriches every scene with authenticity.
A Story Told with Cinematic Clarity
LePre’s prose is clean, direct, and evocative. Dialogue carries emotional weight without excess. Scenes unfold with a cinematic rhythm—slow, deliberate moments of reflection punctuated by sharp turns of conflict. It’s easy to imagine The Podestà adapted for screen: the sweeping landscapes, the struggle for power, intense battles, and the intimate family moments, all visually compelling.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
