Item description from seller

no date, presumed early 1900s. 8 page pamphlet. A short piece arguing for the establishment of sanatoriums for those affected by tuberculosis, citing statistics of those affected, cure and treatment rates at other sanatoriums (including statistics from Germany), and the ill effects on society caused by the sick. Much of this last part is based on conjecture, hypothesizing the effects on the family of a sick male, where the family lives in a 'hovel,' the wife is forced to work, as is the eldest daughter (speculating the wife also becomes ill and dies, leaving the children to the penal system). FAIR/GOOD condition. Wisconsin Tuberculosis Association stamp on the outside cover, with a faint note in pencil also present. Minor pencil corrections in the text. General browning to the paper, with a 3 1/2 inch horizontal tear affecting the pages at the center fore edge.
