A finely engraved plan of pre-Civil War Washington DC, as it was in 1845, published in Meyer's most important publication, his "Hand Atlas". Inset of the floor plan of the Capitol building, which was not yet built at the time. The legend lists 76 locations - later editions of this map listed up to 85 locations. The publisher's line beneath the neatline suggests the map was published in Heidelberg, Amsterdam, Paris & Philadelphia. Black & white, as issued. Includes Georgetown. Designated as scarce by David Rumsey. 14.4x 11.7" with full margins. Streets, neighborhood and legend are in English, and the title and legend header are in German. Seller Inventory # 14250
