First edition and printing. Ex library book. In good plus tan coloured cloth boards and white titles to back strip. As the dust jacket is attached to the boards a proper view is not possible, though it can be seen that the boards are straight and firm. The end papers feature orange and white maps and are clean. Foxed top cut edge; the fore and tail edges are quite clean. The text block is tightly bound and not tanned or foxed or marked apart from library sticker on half title page; library stamp on copyright page; sticker on last page. Last page is also loose. With many b/w photos and illustrations. Very good condition. In very good pictorial dust jacket with b/w image of gold rush in Pyrenees in 1862. Thick plastic cover over jacket is taped to boards. Quite scarce. Heavy. Please contact us for cost of postage if shipping outside the UK.

Store description

Clevedon Community Bookshop, co-operatively owned, opened on 31 December 2011 and now has a general stock of approximately 20,000 books. Our Bookshop is in Copse Road in Clevedon and is open every day of the week except Mondays, from 10.30am to 4.30pm. The Bookshop Co-operative comprises nearly 650 members from around the world and was set up to stop the only second-hand bookshop in our town from closing. The benefit of being a member/shareholder is only social: no-one benefits financially. All profits are used to improve the bookshop and its stock, and, through events, to contribute to the literacy and literary profile of our town. If you would like you join the Co-operative and co-own the Bookshop with us, please email us.…
