Print on Demand. This book introduces a groundbreaking method of foreign language acquisition developed by Dr. Edward Pick, that emphasizes the natural processes of the human mind during language learning. The author, a renowned authority on memory and language learning, challenges the conventional grammar-based approach, arguing that it contradicts the way our brains acquire language. Instead, Pick advocates for a method that mirrors the way children learn their native tongue: through immersion, comparison, and repetition. This method has been successfully employed with students of all ages, facilitating rapid and effective language acquisition. The book provides a detailed explanation of Pick's method, along with practical exercises and insights into the psychology of language learning, making it an invaluable resource for language learners and educators seeking a more natural and efficient approach to foreign language acquisition. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Strong ideas expel weaker ones from the mind. This) is shown in the fact that if one thing attracts our atten tion all other ideas disappear from the mind, because they have been expelled from it by a stronger idea. Strong ideas do not even admit weaker ones to the mind,' they repel them. This is shown in the fact that if one thing preoccupies us, we neither hear nor see anything going on around us, though our ears and eyes are in the same condition as they were before. Whatever tries to come into'the mind is immediately repelled by the strong ideas present. But ideas of equal strength will blend together. This blending of two ideas of equal strength is called association of ideas.
