A3 - A Portuguese language edition trade paperback book in good+ to very good- condition. A tight, clean, sound copy in color illustrated wraps with minor overall shelf wear with some light overall rubbing of covers, some light creasing along the front spine edge and the front and back covers, and some light edge wear of the covers. The Piano. Coming from Scotland, Ada arrives at the 'the end of the world' accompanied by her daughter and her piano to begin a new life with Stewart - the husband who does not know - and whom she married by proxy. The inhospitable forests of 19th century New Zealand serve as background to one of the most beautiful and unique love stories published in the 1990s. Jane Campion (who also directed the film and which won some of the most prestigious film awards worldwide) and Kate Pullinger created in this book more than a twin of the film. It is a literary work perfectly autonomous from the film and one of the most disturbing contemporary novels. The story is about the passion of a mute woman - Ada - for whom the piano is both her voice and her body. An exciting book, which stands in the shadow of Emily Dickinson's poetry and the transforming atmosphere of the Bronte sisters' novels. O Piano. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.…
