Print on Demand. This book instructs readers on a variety of physico-chemical techniques, primarily concerned with determining the molecular weight of substances. It describes the apparatus used to perform these techniques. Beyond learning the function of each apparatus, readers will gain valuable hands-on experience in understanding and carrying out each of the procedures. The book also explores the theoretical significance of physico-chemical constants and demonstrates how the application of these constants extends to almost every branch of chemistry. For all students of chemistry, this book provides a solid foundation in physico-chemical methods. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

In the preface to the German edition the author calls attention to the ever - widening application of physico - chemical methods in the various branches of chemistry. He says the vapor density, melting point, boiling point, and specific gravity are no longer the only constants the determination of which is necessary in organic chemistry. The electric conductivity, specific refraction, thermal constants, depression of the freezing point and vapor pressure, etc., are of fundamental importance in determining the constitution and molecular weight of substances, as well as in determining their identity and degree of purity.
