Bound in 19th-c. marbled brown calf, gilt and blind-st. frames on boards, gilt-tooled spines on raised bands, red and green title-labels, red edges (joints sl. cracked, spines sl. faded). Third edition (1st ed., 1720-1721) of this important summary of Newtonian physics, one of the masterpieces of the Dutch scholar 's Gravesande (1688-1742), professor of philosophy at the University of Leiden.
