Print on Demand. This book takes us back to the very inception of photography-a new art form at the time. Here, we learn about the very first tools and techniques used by early photographers, many of which form the basis of the techniques and equipment used today. The author provides indispensable information on how to use early photographic equipment including cameras, lenses, tripods, and developing equipment. They then explore how to use these tools to select and capture an image, and how to develop the image into a negative and then a positive photograph. The depth of information and detail provided in this book makes it an invaluable resource for the photographer—whether novice or experienced. In addition to detailed technical information, this book provides a rich historical context for photography, which should make it enjoyable to even the casual reader. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

The grooved or notched track-frame at the bottom, on which the front of the box travels, is usually hinged back of the center of its length, so that, when the ends are brought close together by the telescoping of the bel lows, the longest part of this frame or bed may be folded up against the front of the box, making the whole camera compact for carrying; the folding up has nothing to do with the operation of the camera. Roughly speaking, this is the whole of a camera box, except two other features of its construction, which will be noted further on.
