xxxvi, 538pp. The 1871 facsmilie reprint of the third edition of Sir Isaac Newton's great work in 4to., which appears to be a very faithful re-rendering but with no frontispiece. Not missing from this edition - it seems that they chose to exclude it. A good only copy, because as a former bookseller has noted: 'pages carelously opened'. A number of unopened pages have been somewhat carelously forced leaving to some mostly small or very small chips to the margins (no loss of text that I can see) and some torn pages. Should you ask me to - I can repair some of these tears and make it even more presentable, but given the importance of this title I am selling it 'as is' so that a buyer may choose some more professional attention. Original publisher's cloth boards with a paper title label to the head of the spine - as issued. Once again there is an issue here too as the front board is only holding by the upper 2 thread with the lower 2 binding cords present but not holding. On the plus side - no ink inscriptions (the former bookseller's remarks in pencil and will erase) and the pages themselves (the vast bulk of them are undamaged) clean with no marginalia and just some scattered spotting, which is heavier to the front endpapers to include the new facsimile title page (which incidentally has 2 such aforementioned chips at the head). The facsimile title page printed in red and black is in lovely condition.…

Store description
Trumpington Fine Books Limited has been in business for a number of years. We specialize in all books of distinction whether they be modern collectable first editions, monographs or books of reference, fine bindings or antiquarian. Or just simple affordable books, which we believe are of merit. We focus on describing our books thoroughly and aim to make each customer satisfied with their purchase. 'What it says on the tin'....is what should be in the tin. We also take great care in the packaging of our books - we virtually never have a complaint about books being damaged in transit and we aim to uphold this - despite the fact that it is considerably more expensive on time and materials (and thus money) to pack books well. We try and make our books as affordable as possible and we recognize that times are hard. We have many repeat customers and we are delighted to have them as they only confirm the above. On the rare occasion that things do go wrong, we will try very hard to rectify any problems. We are able to bulk purchase through Royal Mail and aim to make no money out of postage - in point of fact, after taking into account the cost of packaging materials, we take a loss on postage - all our discounts are passed on to the customer. In our business we will endeavour to always uphold the customer. So in short, buy with confidence! Testimonial from Jose in Spain who recently bought some books from us : THE BOOKS HAVE ARRIVED IN PERFECT ORDER AND WITH THE EXPECTED QUALITY. YOU PACK FOR WAR! THANK YOU. LOOK FORWARD TO DEALING WITH YOU AGAIN SOON. BEST WISHES JOSE and we look forward to his next point of contact with us.…
