Print on Demand. This book is a nuanced exploration of the peoples of the Philippines, offering insights into their history, culture, and the dynamics of their relationship with Spain. The author argues that, despite the profound influence that almost three hundred years of Spanish rule had upon them, the Filipino people remain a culturally distinct people. The book presents a critical look at the impact of Spanish friars and the abuses of power that helped incite the Filipino revolution. The author also discusses the difficulties of building a Filipino government in the face of ongoing social and political disorganization and ethnic and cultural diversity. Ultimately, the author argues that the Filipinos are a people capable of progress toward liberalism and that their capacity for social and intellectual improvement is on par with people of other nations. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
