Paperback. In the shadowed beginnings of the Boiling Isles, Philip Wittebane arrives seeking knowledge-not mercy. What he finds instead is a world built on a corpse, where magic bleeds through the soil and the dead refuse to stay quiet. When an experiment meant to understand magic results in an accidental death, Philip tells himself it was necessary. Survival, after all, demands adaptation. But magic does not recoil from him.It listens. As Philip begins experimenting with bodies preserved by ancient power, he crosses a threshold few ever return from. Flesh becomes material. Identity becomes an imprint. And the line between accident and intention dissolves into obsession. The First Body is not merely raised-it endures, asking questions Philip is no longer sure he can answer.Told through gothic imagery and relentless psychological horror, Philip Wittebane and the First Body is a descent into rationalized evil, body horror, and the quiet terror of rewriting history while it is still bleeding. This is not a story about becoming a monster-it is about learning how to call monstrosity necessary, and writing the first lie that makes everything else possible.Dark, unsettling, and emotionally devastating, this novel reframes villainy as scholarship and horror as legacy.
