The ninth edition of the Pilot with its Supplement No. 2. (1) PILOT: Compiled by Captain F.M. Hodgson with introductory "Advertisement" by Vice Admiral J.A. Edgell, Hydrographer of the Navy, dated 20 June 1942. Original grey titled pale grey cloth 16x25cm. xxvi, 286pp + (22)pp containing 35 views as called for + unindexed material including a folding isobars and isotherms chart (opp p22), a full-page diagram (opp p238), and various inserted texts. Covers very good with small circular stain to the front and small nicks at the edges. Interiors near fine, lightly tanned with small neat contemporary dated Harbour Master ink stamp and rusted staple residue offset from the Supplement where it was laid inside the front. The text includes descriptions of settlements and economic activities. Among the views are the forts at Fujairah, Abu Dhabi and Doha; the towns and villages of Suwaiq, Sohar, Ajman, Kalhat, Ghalla, Kuhistak, Ayanat, Ganaweh including Anglo-Persian Oil Company installations, Muharraq, Manama, and other sites on the approach to Bahrain Harbour; several islands and stretches of coast; and the Shatt al Arab Control Vessel. (2) SUPPLEMENT: Compiled by Commander D.L. Cowan with Advertisement by Edgell, dated 16 Jan 1945. Original staple-bound printed wraps 14x22cm. 13pp. Covers very good with corresponding ink stamp to the front, rusted staple residue and short tears around the staples. Interiors fine.
