Peppers and Eggplants: A Practical Growing Guide brings together sweet peppers, hot and semi-hot peppers, and eggplants in one practical reference for home gardeners. Whether you are growing peppers from seed, learning bell pepper plant care, trying to improve hot pepper growing, or working out how to grow eggplant from seed, this book explains the crop-specific decisions that matter from the first seedlings to the final harvest.
Inside, you will learn how to:
• choose pepper and eggplant varieties for your climate, growing space, and intended use;
• manage seed starting, germination, seedling care, hardening off, and transplanting;
• prepare soil and growing sites for garden beds, raised beds, greenhouses, and containers;
• set practical spacing, watering, mulching, feeding, support, pruning, and fruit-load routines;
• improve flowering and fruit set and understand common causes of blossom drop and weak development;
• harvest sweet peppers, hot peppers, and eggplants at the right stage for quality and use;
• recognize common pepper and eggplant pests and diseases and choose appropriate prevention and control measures.
The guide also covers growing peppers in containers and growing eggplant in containers, with attention to pot size, root-zone conditions, watering, feeding, and heat management. Separate guidance for sweet peppers, hot peppers, and eggplants helps you avoid treating all three crops as if their needs were identical.
The book includes 8 practical illustrations that make key growing and care techniques easier to understand.
Written for beginners and practical home growers, this guide gives you a clear seasonal framework for pepper plant care and eggplant plant care, while helping you diagnose problems before they reduce plant health or harvest quality. Use it as a working reference for seed starting, transplanting, everyday care, pest and disease management, and harvest decisions.
