Neuware - 'Peeps at the Mighty' is an engaging collection of literary and biographical essays by the noted critic Patrick Braybrooke. This work offers a series of insightful and often personal sketches of the most prominent intellectual and literary figures of the early 20th century. Braybrooke provides a contemporary perspective on the lives and works of giants such as H.G. Wells, G.K. Chesterton, Bernard Shaw, and Max Beerbohm, among others.Written with the wit and analytical clarity characteristic of Braybrooke's style, the book captures the essence of the 'mighty' personalities who defined the Edwardian and Georgian eras. By blending critical appraisal with anecdotal detail, the author presents a vivid portrait of the authors and public figures who shaped the modern English literary landscape. 'Peeps at the Mighty' serves as both a valuable historical record and a compelling piece of literary journalism, offering readers a unique window into the reputations and cultural impact of these iconic individuals during their own lifetimes. It remains an essential read for those interested in the history of British literature, the art of the essay, and the development of modern literary celebrity. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
