Print on Demand. This book explores the impact of the Poor Laws in Victorian Britain and reveals the growing undercurrent of destitution that would become a defining feature of the era. It uses a variety of source material, including inquests, reports and personal testimony to shine a light on the experiences of the men, women and children who struggled to survive under the weight of poverty and the harsh treatment they received under the Poor Laws. The book's insights provide a powerful and moving account of the suffering and inequality that lay beneath the surface of Victorian society. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
