Synopsis:

A revised edition of this highly illustrated account of the day, Franklin Delano Roosevelt declared, that would live in infamy.

December 7, 1941 was one of the single most decisive days of World War II - the day that brought the USA into the fight. Six Japanese aircraft carriers disgorged their full complements in two waves on the superior US Pacific Fleet as it lay slumbering in Pearl Harbor. Depending on opposing viewpoints, the attack was either a brilliant maneuver of audacious strategy, or a piece of unparalleled villainy and deception by a supposedly friendly power.

This revised edition, containing the latest research on the events of December 7, 1941, reveals several previously unknown aspects of the attack and dispels key myths that have been built up around the fateful day.

About the Author: Carl Smith has had a life long fascination with many aspects of the military history of the United States. A specialist writer of many years experience, he lives and works in Virginia. David Aiken has studied Pearl Harbor from his earliest book acquisitions at age nine. His database on Japanese aviation and Pearl Harbor has been utilized by many students, researchers, artists, authors, historians, and museums. For this title he has contributed the latest research on the events of December 7, 1941.

Adam Hook studied graphic design at art college and began his illustrating career in 1983. He has worked with a variety of educational publishers covering various subjects within the fields of history and natural history. Jim Laurier is a native of New Hampshire. He is a Fellow member of the American Society of Aviation Artists, the New York Society of Illustrators and the American Fighter Aces Association.
