Paperback. You can be truthful and still make things worse. In the heat of an argument, the words come out faster than your judgement, and the damage often starts before you even speak: a tightened jaw, a defensive story, a familiar script that turns a solvable problem into a fight. Pause Before You Pounce is a practical guide to interrupting that chain reaction, so you can stay honest without becoming harsh. Elena Morwick shows you how to recognise your earliest conflict cues, take a brief pause without surrendering your point, and choose language that lowers heat while keeping your boundaries intact. You will learn pause before speaking techniques that work in real time, simple phrases for difficult conversations, and methods for tone control when your body wants to accelerate. The book also gives you repair language for when you have already reacted, so you can reset the exchange and return to the issue with more clarity. This book is for anyone who wants to stop reacting on autopilot: partners who keep circling the same argument, adult children navigating family arguments, managers and teammates dealing with workplace conflict, and people who value directness but regret the way they deliver it. You will not find lofty theory or perfect-person advice here, but a repeatable method for building steadier emotional regulation skills: notice, pause, choose, and repair. The result is not silence or compliance, but cleaner honesty and fewer conversations you have to apologise for later. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.…
