Together two items. First item: 8vo. pp. 7; browning to outer leaves, adhesion damage to rear leaf where sometime contained in an album, else VG. Second item: A printed ticket to the Funeral, approx. 4.5 x 3 (114 x 75mm); adhesion damage to rear where sometime contained in an album. Frederic Leighton, the painter and some time President of the Royal Academy, was raised to the peerage in the New Years Honours list of 1896, the first painter to receive this honour. He died the day after the patent making him Baron Leighton, of Stretton, was issued. Leighton remains the shortest lived peer in history. The recipient of the ticket - W. T. Thistleton-Dyer - was director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and son-in-law of Joseph Dalton Hooker.
