International students, immigrants, and refugees from around the globe have come to our schools, neighborhoods, and workplaces. These students, immigrants, and refugees often have difficulty developing meaningful relationships due to language and cultural barriers, but they long for relationships. God has placed this gift in the Church’s hands: to be Christ’s hands and feet to those who are new to our neighborhood. There are countless ways for Christian individuals, families, and churches to serve Internationals and to experience new cultures and customs. This also presents prime opportunity to showcase the love of God and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. My hope in writing this book is to challenge, encourage, inspire, and guide you toward developing meaningful relationships with local Internationals. Our prayer is that these Internationals will come to know God personally through his son Jesus Christ. Pastors, church mission teams, university campus ministry leaders, and students alike will find this to be a must have resource challenging them to practical action. We now can literally reach out to nearly every nation in the world—without the need of a passport!
