Pictorial tan wrappers bound into later three-quarter morocco and marbled boards by W. Launder. Narrow quarto. Of an edition of 300 copies this is one of 160 copies on "velin de cuve" with plates in one state (this copy is unnumbered). Handsomely printed edition of the French poet and dramatist's first play, a starring vehicle for Sarah Bernhardt. It contains 47 illustrated leaves by the French painter Louis Edouard Fournier which are engraved by Leon Boisson. This copy bears the bookplate of art historian and author, August Jaccaci. The binding is good with some wear to the bottom edge. The front cover is neatly detached. The text is very good with some foxing and spotting throughout, occasionally heavy.
