Paperback. Parting from the Four Attachments is a commentary on the revered master of the Sakya tradition Jetsun Drakpa Gyaltsen's "Song of Experience on Mind Training and the View." Through the wisdom of Chogye Trichen Rinpoche, this jewel of Tibetan Buddhism shines in its elucidation of the nature of attachment and the path to enlightenment. The book is richly layered with historical context as it encourages readers to transcend the four attachments that bind them to suffering.Rinpoche's commentary provides practical guidance on cultivating ethical conduct, meditation, and the unity of clarity and emptiness known as Mahamudra. The teachings emphasize the importance of understanding the illusory nature of experiences, fostering a deeper sense of compassion and altruism. It also provides a window into the rich heritage of the Sakya tradition, serving as a useful guide for those committed to overcoming the afflictions of attachment and realizing their true nature. The teaching on Parting from the Four Attachments is universally regarded as one of the jewels of Tibetan Buddhism. Rinpoche leads the reader through a detailed and lucid exploration of the nature of mind, pointing out inevitable pitfalls in spiritual practice and showing how they can be avoided.
