'For too long, the work of the Parole Board has been shrouded in secrecy. This book provides a detailed view of how decisions are reached.'
--Martin Jones CBE, HM Chief Inspector of Probation

MURDER. ARMED ROBBERY. SEXUAL OFFENCE.
When a prisoner is up for parole, a decision must be made. How will they behave when released? Will they cope? Will they reoffend? These are some of the questions Rob McKeon, member of the Parole Board, asks himself day to day.
Some people have terrible early life experiences setting them on a destructive path that’s difficult to alter. Some can change, while others never do. It’s vital to assess the dangers and make the right call.
With over a decade on the Parole Board, these are the stories that have shaped a career where risks are high and the repercussions can be devastating. This is an eye-opening look at Britain’s prison system, told from the front lines.
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF THE PAROLE BOARD.
