The Parish of Girthon in Kirkudbrightshire SW Scotland centres around the Town of Gatehouse of Fleet. This book is a complete copy of the original handwritten Poor Law Register from 1864-1895 which was in private hands in 1999 when I borrowed it and photocopied it, compiling an index from information within the Register, including names, sex, place and date of birth, date of death, enrtry date, residence, occupation, disability, Within the 342 completed pages entered 891 individuals are recorded.Good quality photocopy with very legible script. I prepared two other copies which were at the time presented to the Stewartry Museum in Kirkcudbright and the Dumfries & Galloway Family History Society shop in Dumfries. This is the only remaining copy which was professionally bound by Bovill. Further enquiries welcome. Please note also listed are photocopies of the letter book of the Parish - unbound.
