12mo ( 4" x 6") hardcover in blindstamped green cloth with spine lettered in gilt. 204 pp. plus 4 pp. publisher's ads at rear. About very good, firm in the binding, cloth faded, scattered foxing to the text throughout and with tidemarking to the lower corners of most of the pages gradually diminishing. 1865 ownership signature and place notation fronst pastedown. The Rev. Smith provides child-raering instructions including chapters on "Subordination". "Propensity To Imitate", "Books" , "Truth", "Honesty", "Good Breeding", "Profanity", etc.
