Chapters include: "Authoritative Parenting for Character and Competence", "The Power of Modeling in Children's Character Development", "Discipline Strategies that Support Character Growth", "Democratic Family Practices", and "The Domains of Social Reasoning: How We Think about Right and Wrong and Why It Matters to Parents".Contributors include Marilyn Watson, Program Director for the Child Development Project, Larry Nucci, Director of the Center for Studies of Moral Development and Education, and Thomas Lickona, Director of the Center for the 4th and 5th Rs (Respect and Responsibility). Additional chapters were written by Diana Baumrind, Professor of Child Development and Head of the Family Socialization Project at University of California, Berkeley, and Marvin Berkowitz, Professor of Character Education and Director of the McDonnell Leadership Academy in Character Education, University of Missouri.
About the Author: David Streight is a nationally certified school psychologist and teacher with three decades of work experience in public and private schools. He is the Executive Director of the Council for Spiritual and Ethical Education, and is head of CSEE's Moral Development Team.
