One of the three magnificent red coloured tailed Birds of Paradise from John Gould's Birds of New Guinea. Goldie's Bird of Paradise, distinguished from the other Paradisaea species as the lavender grey breast plumage. It is found in the hill forests of Fergusson and Normanby Island on the D'Entrecasteaux Archipelago, New Guinea. The name commemorates the Scottish collector Andrew Goldie, who discovered the bird in 1882.
