Paperback. An enticing story about a quest to do what seemed impossible. Out of the depths of debilitating doubt comes the improbable, intimate account of how a man ran six marathons in the year he turned 68. He was never fast and never considered himself a runner, yet he accepted his wife's offer to run his first 5k race at age 56. After running one or two small races a year, an epiphany challenged him to see how far and fast he could run. Join the journey as he increased his distances and frequency to run his first marathon at age 62 and then, with renewed inspiration, challenged himself to run six world major marathons in one year. He talks honestly about how he overcame the physical fatigue from training in the Florida heat and humidity while struggling with a deep-seated imposter syndrome. In this refreshingly honest account from a back-of-the-pack runner, he celebrates those who enter, train, and persevere to finish long after most. He pulls back the curtain to share a guide for those beginning to run in their 50s, 60s, and 70s. This is an inspirational story of those unwilling to quit, refusing to accept the critic's limitations, and determined to do what they never thought possible. This item is printed on demand.
