With this 8th collection, Pangyrus Literary magazine responds with art, heart, verve and vulnerability to the COVID-19 pandemic. Woven throughout this volume are poems, essays, stories and comics from our new "In Sickness and In Health" section. These include Xiaoly Li's "Your Fire and Thunder," a tragic, posthumous tribute to a voice of warning, L.M. Brown's "What We Worried About," and much more.
Writers also found ways to capture the cultural reckoning around race, with Celeste Cosme's "For Greenwood" and Ryane Nicole Granados's ""Love Letter to My Soon To Be Thirteen-Year-Old Son" representing some of the most powerful writing we've published.
These pieces and more are woven throughout Pangyrus Eight's mix of stories, poems, and comics, all of it designed to spirit you
away and bring you back more here than you've ever been before. Other highlights include Martín Espada's "The Spotlight at the Corner...", Pamela
Painter's "The Red Bicycle" and "Simple Math," Charles Bernstein's ringing verse ('we were the fire before the fire was ours'),
"Synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title.
