Print on Demand. This book is concerned with the intricate machinery of creating and maintaining political organizations in the late 19th century. It presents the reader with a series of documents that comprehensively outline the means by which political parties in Ontario were coordinating their activities. The documents reveal the decisive role that dedicated committees and active membership played in driving political outcomes at the local level. It also presents a set of instructions for updating the voters' list and the assessment roll, which were crucial components of electoral administration, in a way that prioritized their party's candidates. This book provides not only a glimpse into the nuts and bolts of electoral politics but also the crucial importance of organization in driving political outcomes in late 19th-century Canada. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

The law has subdivided the electors into convenient numbers for organization, canvassing, and polling purposes and the printing and distribution of the Voters' Lists have greatly facilitated such work.
In view of the fact that a change of a very few votes in each polling subdivision would in most ridings turn defeat into victory, it is impossible to over-estimate the vital importance of immediate and thorough organization of polling subdivision committees.
In the form of Constitution that is to be found at page 6, special, importance has been given to subdivision committees and their work.
