Prior owner's ink stamps on front and on two pages within, along with a penned date at the lower front; saddle staples have begun to rust, and soft cover has small tears and creases at spine ends and edges, otherwise sound. 31pp. Articles include "The Wedding of James Harlan" by Johnson Brigham, "In the Neutral Ground" by Willard Barrows (concerning a forty-mile-wide, 150-mile-long "neutral" territory declared by the US government between the Sioux and the Sac and Fox, from north of Prairie du Chien to the Des Moines river), and "A Visit to Dubuque's Grave", unattributed but first published in the 'Du Buque Visitor' in 1836. A commentary by the editor follows.
