About this Item

This lovely copy of this work is an interesting combination of the first edition letterpress (the title page being dated 1786 with II added in ink) with the second edition plates (dated 1788). The title page states the price as 16 shillings in sheets instead of 16s bound. Very nicely rebound in period style with half leather and marbled boards, new endpapers, gilt tooled title piece. Pages are [2], 14, and include titile page, table of contents, descriptions of the plates, and estimate of prices. Most plates are in lovely fresh condition, water stain to bottom right corner creeping in from plate 36 and narrow ink stain at bottom edge about the same place, but even plate 42 is not bad (see image). The ink stain at the bottom is also present in the letterpress but otherwise pages are clean. Seller Inventory # 002365
