You were never meant to have power.
And now they will burn the world to take it from you.
In Verith, power is inherited through blood. Passed from father to son, bound to the noble houses that rule the Divine.
When the Prevailing Diviner dies unexpectedly, his son Ezra inherits far more than a title. Ancient power burns beneath his skin, violent and corrupted in ways it should not be. Whispers of monsters and foul play begin to spread through the court. As the newly appointed head of the Divine, Ezra is expected to uphold the fragile balance of their world… even as it begins to fracture around him.
Lavinia Dawling has spent her life preparing for her debut into society, believing her future would be decided in glittering ballrooms and careful courtship. Instead, on the night she is meant to be presented to the court, she is delivered to the most feared man in Verith to fulfill a blood pact made long before either of them had a choice.
Ezra wants nothing to do with the pact or the girl now bound to his house. But as strange deaths spread through the noble families and buried truths begin clawing their way to the surface, the line between duty and obsession begins to blur.
Because something corrupt has taken root beneath the Divine.
And the deeper they fall into its secrets, the more terrifying the truth becomes:
Sometimes fate is not in control.
And they are merely the consequence of it.
Perfect for readers who love:
- dark regency romantasy
- morally gray love interests
- forced proximity
- enemies to lovers
- corrupted magic
- slow-burn tension
- “Who did this to you?” energy
- dangerous devotion
Fall in love with something that’s going to destroy you.
