Synopsis:

Following the successful The Appalachian Trail, and New York Times bestseller America's Great Hiking Trails, The Pacific Crest Trail is the official book on one of America's most iconic hiking trails, and is published in conjunction with the Pacific Crest Trail Association. With a foreword by Cheryl Strayed, maps, rarely seen archival photos and historical ephemera, and stunning contemporary photography, this photo- and information-packed book is an inspirational bucket list for everyone who wants to get out on the trail--from day hiker to thru-hiker.

The Pacific Crest Trail explores highlights of this iconic wilderness footpath with more than 250 spectacular contemporary images, historical photos and documents from the PCTA archives, and detailed maps. Readers can experience the trail as if their boots were on the 2,650-mile path.

About the Author: Mark Larabee has been the managing editor for the Pacific Crest Trail Association since 2010. A nationally recognized journalist, he spent 25 years as a newspaper reporter and editor, most recently for The Oregonian newspaper in Portland, Oregon, where he received the Pulitzer Prize for breaking news in 2007. In 2005, he spent four months researching a 13-part series about the Pacific Crest Trail, which included a monthlong hike across Oregon. Barney Scout Mann is a freelance writer whose articles have appeared in Backpacker, The Oregonian, and the PCT Communicator. He served as chair of the Pacific Crest Trail Association's Board of Directors from April 2012 to April 2015. His first hike on the PCT was in 1965, and he thru-hiked the PCT in 2007. Cheryl Strayed is the author of the No. 1 New York Times bestselling memoir Wild, about her transformative 1995 hike along the Pacific Crest Trail. She also wrote the bestselling advice essay collection Tiny Beautiful Things, the novel Torch, and the forthcoming quotes collection, Brave Enough. The nonprofit Pacific Crest Trail Association is the only organization dedicated solely to the preservation and protection of the Pacific Crest Trail.
