Precision machining is essential to modern manufacturing, where dimensional accuracy, surface finish, repeatability, and process control determine the quality of finished components. From CNC programming and cutting-tool selection to advanced machining operations and dimensional inspection, successful machining requires a combination of technical knowledge, practical skills, and sound manufacturing principles.
Precision Machining Technology Handbook provides a practical introduction to the methods, equipment, and engineering concepts used in precision machining and modern manufacturing. It explores how machining processes, CNC technology, tooling, measurement techniques, and quality-control practices work together to produce accurate and consistent components.
Inside this handbook, you will explore:
. Fundamentals of precision machining and manufacturing processes
. CNC machine tools, machine configurations, and operating principles
. CNC programming concepts, coordinate systems, and machining commands
. G-code and M-code fundamentals for machining operations
. Workpiece setup, workholding methods, and machine alignment
. Cutting-tool materials, geometries, coatings, and tool selection
. Cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cut, and machining parameters
. Turning, milling, drilling, boring, and finishing operations
. Five-axis machining principles and complex part machining
. Tool paths, machining strategies, and process optimization
. Tool wear, cutting forces, heat generation, and surface finish
. Dimensional tolerances, fits, and geometric dimensioning principles
. Metrology fundamentals and precision measurement techniques
. Calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators, and coordinate measuring machines
. Inspection procedures and dimensional verification
. Statistical process control and manufacturing quality methods
. Common machining defects and troubleshooting approaches
. Process repeatability, accuracy, and production consistency
. Machine maintenance, calibration, and operational considerations
. Practical methods for improving machining efficiency and reducing waste
The book connects machining theory with practical manufacturing applications, helping readers understand how programming decisions, cutting parameters, tooling choices, machine capabilities, and inspection procedures influence the final product.
Whether you are learning CNC machining, strengthening your manufacturing knowledge, working in a machine shop, or developing your understanding of precision production, this handbook provides a useful foundation for approaching machining tasks with greater confidence and technical awareness.
Who Can Benefit from This Book?
